How online examinations work
An online examination is a sequence of authoring, candidate admission, delivery, monitoring, submission and review. Each stage needs a clear owner and a recoverable record of what happened.
1. Prepare the assessment
Staff define the assessment, questions, time limits, allowed materials and marking approach. Before scheduling, test the candidate journey with the same device and network conditions expected in the actual sitting. Determine how accommodations and technical support will work for candidates who need them.
In Aisprx source, authorized organization and exam routes support paper strategies, shifts and candidate allocation. Their configuration and availability depend on the institution and deployment.
2. Admit candidates and deliver the sitting
Admission should identify the candidate, the intended sitting and the applicable rules. An access grant is not interchangeable with an administrative session. The candidate client then loads the assessment and records responses as the attempt progresses.
Build a plan for disconnects, interrupted submissions, lost devices and time adjustments. Candidates need clear instructions before the exam begins; staff need an incident path when the planned flow fails.
3. Monitor and review
Proctors may observe assigned sessions and investigate signals. Monitoring data is evidence for human review, not proof of misconduct by itself. Privacy notices should say what is collected, who can access it and how long it is kept. Technical controls also depend on operating system, permissions and the installed client version.
Aisprx implements proctor views and desktop controls in source, but this guide does not claim that a particular installer, environment or detection method prevents cheating.
4. Complete the assessment
At submission, preserve the attempted answers, timestamps and event history needed for review. Staff should verify that marks, exceptions and appeals follow a documented process before communicating results. Test the entire lifecycle with a pilot that reflects real candidate conditions.
